THE LOGLINE
The "Blues" in RED BARON BLUES is the hidden truth that having a career as a pilot inevitably destroys long term relationships - engagements and marriages. The extended absences and frequent moves for different jobs makes it hard for relationships to survive.
A young female pilot, Mona, gets suspended by the FAA and takes a job working in the office of a glider-resort in Napa Valley. She falls in love with Will, the son of the owner (Will is also a pilot who flies a Fed-Ex 747).
The resort is in deep financial trouble because people have stopped coming for glider rides. Mona saves the day by staging a "Red Baron's Birthday Festival" featuring WWI bi-planes and arranging for resort guests to participate in supervised "laser-tag" aerial dogfights.
After she saves the resort for Will and his Dad, her FAA suspension is lifted and she returns to being a working, traveling pilot, just like Will. The demands of their two flying jobs irrevocably fracture their relationship. But 10 years later in a chance encounter, they discover that maybe their love is not lost after all.
